Thousands of pilgrims braved the summer heat to attend the Pope's Angelus at St. Peter's Square.
Inspired by the day's reading from the Gospel, where Jesus convokes all of those who suffer or are burdened, Pope Francis denounced the poor conditions many people are forced to live in around the the world.

'He calls to them and says: 'Come to me,' and he promises them relief and rest. This invitation from Jesus extends to the present day, reaching the many brothers and sisters weighed down by poor living conditions, by difficult life situations and sometimes by a lack of valid points of reference.â?
Pope Francis reminded pilgrims that in the poorest countries as well as the peripheries of the richest, there are people 'who are suffering and even to the point of exhaustion due to the unbearable weight they bear of abandonment and indifference.â?
He talked about the damage that indifference makes. The Pope also denounced the burden of an economic system that exploits people.

'Indifference. Human indifference hurts those in most need! And worse even, is that from Christians. On the margins of society, there are many men and women worn down by poverty, but also by dissatisfaction and frustration in life. So many are forced to emigrate from their homeland, risking their own lives. Many others, every day bear the burden of an economic system that exploits man, imposes an unbearable yoke, which the privileged few prefer not to carry.â?
During his greeting to pilgrims, the Pope thanked the support and affection from the people of Molise, the region he visited on Saturday.
