The Pope met with Bishops from Malawi, who are visiting Rome for their 'ad limina' visit. ;

He personally greeted each one of them and afterwards he gave them a copy of his speech. ;

Malawi is an impoverished country. ;According to the United Nations, when it comes to human development, it ranks in number 166 out of 187. ;

The Pope described the level of poverty as a tragedy, along with the low life expectancy. ;

The Pope also thanked the Bishops for the work they do in the health sector, especially when it comes to helping people with AIDS. Malawi is among the top 10 countries with the highest population of people infected with HIV. ;

When it comes to new vocations to the priesthood, the Pope called on Bishops to give seminarians the best formation. Towards the end, a slight confusion triggered some laughs before the group said farewell. ;
