More than 300 street children got to meet Pope Francis, during an unscheduled visit in Manila.

It happened right after he celebrated Mass on Friday morning, ;in Manila's Catholic Cathedral. ;The Pope decided to meet with these street kids, in a home run by the ANAK-Tnk charity foundation. ;

Since it wasn't part of the official itinerary, there was no press there. No official cameras or even video. ;

According to Vatican Radio, back in October the local Archbishop, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle gave Pope Francis roughly 1,000 letters from some of those street children, who wanted to share their stories with the Pope. ;

Months later, they got to share those stories one on one. Even though the Pope spoke in Spanish, he had Cardinal Tagle there to help out with translations. ;
