'One Human Family, Food for All is a global Catholic campaign that was started by Caritas Internationalis. This campaign was launched in December of 2013 to serve as a voice for all governments around the world to guarantee a right to 'Food for all and to end world hunger.

Even though the campaign recently ended, the initiative behind the message is not lost.

Caritas reflects the social mission and core values of the Catholic Church and units with a global confederation of over 160 national Catholic charities. Serving those of all faiths that are in need all over the world.

ALFONSO APICELLA
Campaign Coordinator, Caritas Internationalis
'The programs that are run by our national member organizations are fantastic in that they reach out to the grassroots. It means that we work through our national member organizations with schools, daycare centers, home for the elderly, in order for them to know more about what we are doing.

Alfonso Apicella is the Campaign Coordinator for Caritas. He has worked for the organization for over eight years and has spearheaded many campaigns like the most recent, Food For All.

'When it came to choosing a campaign around food security we also started producing materials that could help people understand more about the scandal of hunger, as the Pope and Cardinal Maradiaga always said.

Within the last twenty years, the number of hungry people in the world has decreased by 40 million. In 2013, Caritas responded to 25 major emergencies with its grassroots network. At least 39 Caritas members provided financial, technical and hands on support.

To date, more than 2 million people have received humanitarian aid.

Caritas has been working to fight hunger for decades, so thatâ??s not new. But this was the first time all Caritas members worldwide joined together to share ideas and act as one voice on this topic.

ALFONSO APICELLA
Campaign Coordinator, Caritas Internationalis
'This is something that we learned through our last campaign because we always say to each other; 'together we are more, together we can do more.' So, I think my hope for the future, five to ten years time, even earlier, would be to see a confederation that really does work together in a gradually more harmonized way.

Today, Alfonso along with the others involved with the campaign have their sites set on an ambitious task: to end world hunger by 2025.
