On Friday, March 9 at 5 p.m., a penitential liturgy will be celebrated in the Vatican's St. Peter's Basilica.

It's a ceremony in which the pope normally confesses, and he does so to some of the pilgrims.

This ceremony is typical of Lent, forming part of the “24 Hours for the Lord” initiative.

The idea is for churches around the world to display the Eucharist for 24 hours for the veneration of pilgrims and to have priests available to hear confessions.
