Old college roommates turned a spontaneous search for a prayer journal on Amazon into a reality. Thus, Christie Peters and Kassie Manning created “Every Sacred Sunday”.

“We are the co-creaters of Every Sacred Sunday.”

“Every Sacred Sunday is a Mass journal created with you in mind to help you say yes to God one Sunday at a time.”

The journal contains the Sunday and Holy Day readings for one liturgical year. There are additional prayers at the beginning and illustrations completed by Christie all throughout the book.

“We've been pretty intentional to make it not too feminine, because my husband uses it with me, my brother uses it. I want to make sure that all Catholics can use it and we want it to be something that feels approachable. That is simple and easy to use, even if people aren't familiar with journaling.”

“The idea is that you are present for Mass before, during and after. You can pre-read the readings, you can take notes during the homily if you hear a great point and then taking the Mass with you beyond that hour on Sunday as well.”

The girls say this journal is an easy way to make daily Scripture a habit and to quite literally take the Gospel out to the streets.

They say various people have told them the journal has allowed them to focus more and open up conversations both at the Church and outside of it.

“We really have poured so much of ourselves into it, and a lot of prayer into it too, trying to make sure that we make decisions so that the book is a quality project, a product. That when you bring it to Church, it really reflects the reverence of the Mass.”

“We've been really surprised by the reaction that we've gotten from people. It's been so positive. Especially in today's world, where being Catholic is so counter-cultural, I think we were really surprised at how enthusiastic the response was from people.”

Now going into their second year, they have just released a new journal. They will also start selling watercolor prints done by Christie and other materials to encourage a deeper understanding of all Church readings.
