The Sistine Chapel will once again receive some very special guests. These are the newborn babies who Pope Francis will baptize under Michelangelo's frescoes.

As is traditional, around twenty girls and boys, sons and daughters of Vatican workers, will attend.

Usually it is one of the noisiest ceremonies of the year. Pope Francis himself knows that, when it comes to babies, it is difficult for the Mass to run smoothly.

POPE FRANCIS

“If the children start the concert, it is because they are uncomfortable or because they are too hot or feel hungry. If they are hungry, feed them. Don’t be afraid. Go ahead and feed them. This too is the language of love.”

The pope usually gives a short homily because the little ones have been away from home for a while and are tired.

These baptisms are one of the most intimate ceremonies of all those celebrated within the Vatican walls. It is very special, first of all, for the families, but also for the children themselves. This is because although they will not remember it, they will be able to boast in the future of having an unforgettable baptism.
