A Costa Rican, Lisandra Cháves confesses that when her mother became ill she went through a great crisis. The anguish was terrible. She wasn't a believer, but she admits that praying made her want to live again.

“I had left the Catholic faith since university until 30 years old, after going through the experiencing of being told by others that God does not exist. However, my life changed when my family experienced a miracle from Our Lady of the Angels, my mother was healed of cancer and afterwards I decided to approach the Church and go to confession.”

Lisandra says that a priest was vital for her conversion. As a way of saying thank you to him, she decided to write a book: “He ahí a tus hijos” or “Behold your children.” There she talks about her life and put together other testimonies of people whose lives have been changed by priests.

José Francisco Ulloa, bishop emeritus of Cartago, went through this experience as well and expresses his testimony in the book's prologue.

MSGR. JOSÉ FRANCISCO ULLOA
“She told me about her conversion process and I was so struck that it was a priest who helped her.”

LISANDRA CHAVES
“There is a large group in Cartago who have studied the book for several months and they tell me now see priests differently.”

Lisandra decided to consecrate herself in 2010, during the “Year for Priests.” It is no coincidence: she explains that for her the priest is someone who opens the doors of Heaven. She has seen it in her life and in the lives of many others.
