When greeting Polish pilgrims during the General Audience, the pope harshly criticized abortion. Pope Francis supported the 'March for Life' that was held throughout the country on Sunday.

POPE FRANCIS
'We are called to defend and serve life from conception in the womb until advanced age, when marked by disease and suffering. It is not lawful to destroy life, to make it the object of experimentation or false conceptions.'

The pope also continued his new catechism series speaking about the beginning of the Christian community. He recalled how their first decision was to replace Judas. He explained that this was an example of 'community discernment.'

POPE FRANCIS
'Judas, had already begun to separate himself from communion with the Lord and with others, until he allowed the virus of pride to infect his mind and heart.'

The pope explained the one thing that defined the first community was the unity between them, far from any individualism.

POPE FRANCIS
'The reunification of the apostolic college shows how in the DNA of the Christian community there is unity and freedom from oneself. It allows one not to fear diversity, not to attach oneself to things and gifts, and to become martyrs, luminous witnesses of the God alive.'

The pope showed his tenderness toward the youngest present at the General Audience, almost validifying his message on protecting the smallest. At the beginning of the audience, he also brought a group of children in the popemobile to accompany him throughout the journey.
