During the Angelus the pope recalled that this Sunday in many countries the Church celebrated Corpus Christi.

He explained that the great message of this solemnity is generosity and to care for one another.

POPE FRANCIS
“Jesus invites his disciples to carry out a true conversion from the logic of 'to each his own' to that of giving, beginning with that little that Providence makes available to us.”

Pope Francis explained that the solemnity of Corpus Christi is an invitation for Christians to rediscover the value of the Eucharist.

POPE FRANCIS
“The Eucharist is the synthesis of Jesus' entire existence. The feast of Corpus Christi invites us each year to renew our wonder and joy at this wonderful gift from the Lord, which is the Eucharist.”

Pope Francis said that one should not become accustomed to receiving communion. He advised that every time one receives communion one should try to receive it as if it were the first time.

At the end of the Angelus, the pope recalled the 14 Spanish martyrs killed in the 1930s who were beatified on Saturday in Madrid.
