Upon seeing the President of Malta, the pope immediately apologized.

It is a truly unforgettable moment.

I apologize for the delay. It was our fault.

At the last minute, the Vatican asked to push back the meeting scheduled with George Vella.

In the official statement on the visit, the Vatican indicated it was a cordial meeting.

The issues covered included “migration to Europe, environmental protection, and the situation of Mediterranean countries.”

As a souvenir, the president gave him this mosaic with Our Lady of Ta'Pinu. John Paul II visited this National Shrine when he traveled to the island of Gozo.

It was a very original way to invite the pope to visit the country.
