Pope Francis explained that the Bible is a source from which every Christian can benefit greatly. For this reason, he recommended meditating on it often and diligently.

POPE FRANCIS
The Word of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, and when received with an open heart, it never leaves things as they were before. It never does. Something changes.

Pope Francis advised Christians to live the 'Lectio Divina.' This practice began in a monastic environment but is now practiced by many laypeople. He explained what this prayer method on Sacred Scripture consists of.

POPE FRANCIS
Always being adherent to the text, I begin to ask myself what it says to me. This is a delicate step. One must not fall into subjective interpretations. The Bible should not be read like a novel.

The last step is contemplation, where, as a result of meditation on the text, sincere dialogue with God is born, and strength is drawn from it.

POPE FRANCIS
The Word inspires good intentions and sustains action. It gives us strength and serenity, and even when it puts us in crisis, it gives us peace.

It seems that Pope Francis has recovered from a sciatica that prevented him from presiding over several ceremonies on Sunday and Monday.

This Tuesday, he attended the funeral of his personal physician, who died from COVID-19. The ceremony was held inside the Vatican.
