-'Let us think of the migrants, of their sufferings, and let us pray in silence...'

Pope Francis has sent 100,000 dollars to Caritas Poland to assist migrants trapped on the country’s border with Belarus.

Since November, the migration crisis in Eastern Europe has been growing more severe. Migrants and refugees are living in forests while enduring harsh winter temperatures which will reach 17 degrees Fahrenheit this week. The EU accuses Belarus of promoting these types of migrations to destabilize Europe next door.

It’s a form of mistreating migrants which the Pope criticized in his yearly meeting with foreign ambassadors to the Holy See.

POPE FRANCIS
'Unfortunately, we must also note that migrants are themselves often turned into a weapon of political blackmail, becoming a sort of “bargaining commodity” that deprives them of their dignity.'

Pope Francis also sent another 100,000 dollars to those affected by typhoon Rai in the Philippines, which ravaged 11 different regions throughout the country.

The aid will be delivered through the Dicastery of Integral Human Development. According to the Vatican, they hope it will be a sign of the Pope’s closeness to the affected populations, and to all people in need of humanitarian aid.
