The Vatican tribunal has dismissed all objections raised by Card. Angelo Becciu and the other nine defendants.

This means that at the next hearing, scheduled for March 17, the cardinal will be questioned before the judge.

The trial began in July, but the defendants' lawyers raised objections such as that they had not been given all the material the prosecutor used to charge them.

The process will be divided into three parts. The first part will address the irregularities that occurred in the purchase of a building in London that caused the Vatican to lose more than $244 million.

The second part will focus on payments made to an alleged mediator, Cecilia Marogna. The last part will study whether Card. Angelo Becciu had any criminal involvement with funds destined for his home diocese's Caritas branch and to his brother's organization.

Card. Angelo Becciu has welcomed the judge's decision because he says that “the time has finally come to tell the truth” after so many months of waiting.
