Just one week after his trip to Kazakhstan, Pope Francis is back on the road.

This time, he is staying in Italy, traveling to the towns of Assisi and Matera over the weekend.

First, he will travel to Assisi to meet the participants in “the Economy of Francis,” a global initiative bringing together young economists and entrepreneurs to build a more inclusive and human economy.

The group has been active for over two years, and will now meet in-person for the first time since the pandemic in Assisi, where they will meet with the Pope.

The meeting takes place in Assisi because that is where the Pope had the inspiration behind this: eight centuries ago St. Francis undressed himself there.

He posited refounding the economy and converting the economy so that the whole economy would put the cause of the poor at the center.

The very next day, Pope Francis will head to Matera in southern Italy, where he will be welcomed by the new president of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, to celebrate Mass for the conclusion of Italy's National Eucharistic Congress.

After Mass, the Pope will pray the Angelus from Matera, before returning to Rome in the afternoon.
