{"id":42539,"date":"2023-05-15T17:27:41","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T15:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www1.romereports.com\/2023\/05\/15\/laywomen-and-men-can-now-be-involved-in-governing-vatican-city-state\/"},"modified":"2023-05-15T17:27:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T15:27:00","slug":"laywomen-and-men-can-now-be-involved-in-governing-vatican-city-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.romereports.com\/en\/2023\/05\/15\/laywomen-and-men-can-now-be-involved-in-governing-vatican-city-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Laywomen and men can now be involved in governing Vatican City State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pope Francis has reformed the Fundamental Law of the Vatican City State\u2014the country's main governing legal document\u2014replacing the one issued by Pope John Paul II in November of 2000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The framework of the new 'Constitution' confirms much of the prior law but also features two distinct changes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Formerly, only cardinals were allowed a legislative role in the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State. Under the new law, laymen and laywomen can also be involved in the governance of the State.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The reformed Constitution also places stricter regulations on the budget analyzed by the Pontifical Commission.
