7 different women from various parts of North America came together in Rome united by their shared goal: serving the poor and marginalized.<\/p>\n
The organization that connected them is Catholic Extension. As a pontifical institution, it's goal is to help people like these women in their mission.<\/p>\n
MELVA ARBELO These women include Melva Arbelo, who leads a home for abused and neglected children in Puerto Rico; Sr. Clarice Suchy, who serves the Uvalde community in Texas following the mass shooting; and Jean Fedigan, who works with women who have been trafficked, experience violence, homelessness and hunger.<\/p>\n During their 6 day visit to the Eternal City, these religious and lay women met with Pope Francis and other Vatican officials. They spoke about the role of women in the local and universal Church. The women emphasized the importance of the Pope's decision to give women voting rights in the Synod on Synodality.<\/p>\n SR.
