Catholic families grieving the loss of a child now have a community to turn to. <\/p>\n
In September, Red Bird Ministries\u2014a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families who have suffered the death of a child\u2014launched the first-ever Catholic grief support app.<\/p>\n
KELLY BREAUX Founder and President of Red Bird Ministries, Kelly Breaux, created the app to address the complexity of grief and the isolation that often accompanies it. <\/p>\n KELLY BREAUX The app provides the opportunity for spiritual direction, one-on-one comfort calls, monthly webinars, quarterly retreats, as well as daily reflections and prayers. \n<\/strong>The Catholic Church has been making sense of death and dying for over 2,000 years\u2014I mean it\u2019s written everywhere in Scripture, the purpose of life\u2014and for the Church not to have a program to minister to families of loss, it just felt like God was asking us to do something.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>It\u2019s hard to pray after you experience something traumatic, so we provide the words for them to pray out loud until that time when they can start doing it on their own.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Because grief is so hard to talk about, we tend to isolate, and so technology has given us that tool to be able to go into the places where people are hiding to help and minister to them so that they can become open to support.<\/em><\/p>\n
