Ouellet denies accusation of sexual assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cardinal Marc Ouellet has called a recent accusation of sexual assault leveled against him \u201cfalse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was accused of inappropriately touching an intern when he was Archbishop of Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Cardinal \u201cfirmly denies\u201d that he had ever taken inappropriate action toward the accuser, referred to as \u201cF,\u201d and called the allegation \u201cdefamatory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said that should a civil investigation be opened against him, he would actively participate in order to establish his innocence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Although no such investigation has been launched, Pope Francis has stated that the Vatican will not be opening a canonical investigation into the Cardinal, since the evidence it has received presents insufficient evidence to do so.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>JM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 19, 2022.
