Cardinal Bl\u00e1zquez is a member of several Vatican organizations. He was also president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference from 2005 to 2008 and also from 2014 to 2017.<\/p>\n
On March 13, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him archbishop of Valladolid. And on February 14, 2015, Pope Francis made him a cardinal. He humbly accepted the position explaining how cardinals are meant to serve.<\/p>\n
