{"id":44202,"date":"2022-02-18T18:33:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-18T17:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www1.romereports.com\/2022\/02\/18\/pope-francis-humanitys-attachment-to-war-is-tragic\/"},"modified":"2022-02-18T18:33:10","modified_gmt":"2022-02-18T17:33:10","slug":"pope-francis-humanitys-attachment-to-war-is-tragic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.romereports.com\/en\/2022\/02\/18\/pope-francis-humanitys-attachment-to-war-is-tragic\/","title":{"rendered":"Pope Francis: Humanity's attachment to war is \u201ctragic\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Participants in the Plenary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches met with Pope Francis at the Vatican.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Its prefect, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, thanked the Pope for advancing relations between the Latin and Eastern Churches, and expressed his concern about prospect of war in Ukraine, where over 60% of the country is Orthodox Christian.<\/p>\n<p>The Pope recalled how past wars ravaged communities of Eastern Christian, just as they threaten to do today.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POPE FRANCIS<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>'We are attached to wars, and this is tragic.'<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He also denounced the conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Ethiopia, and Lebanon which have displaced millions from their homes in what he called the \u201cmotherland of the Eastern Catholic Churches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>POPE FRANCIS<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>'We had hoped that there would be no need to repeat similar words in the third millennium; yet humanity still seems to fumble in the dark.'<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Pope' remarks came during a liturgical conference taking place in Rome, which he described as an opportunity for those from different confessions to get to know each other, and walk together towards unity.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>JM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 18, 2022.
