Students come from around the globe to study at Rome's pontifical universities, but a new course launched by the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross is available to anyone, anywhere,with a computer. <\/p>\n
The course is titled \u201cInstitutional Communication of the Church: Management, Relations and Digital Strategy.\u201d It aims to equip individuals with tools and strategies to promote the work of their organizations. <\/p>\n
GIOVANNI TRIDENTE Professor Tridente will teach the course's module on external communications and media relations. He says the project is intended to support those who advance the Church's mission at all levels. <\/p>\n GIOVANNI TRIDENTE The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross is launching the free online course to mark 25 years of its institutional communications department. It's a field which Professor Tridente says is fundamental to the Church's identity. <\/p>\n GIOVANNI TRIDENTE The interactive course will begin on September 13. \nThis course aims to teach some basic fundamentals of institutional communications in the Church, which is the focus of our department. There will also be lessons on management on shaping the direction of institutional communications.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n[We are looking] to reach everyone who plays a role in institutional communications, through dioceses, conferences, and also in non-profit organizations and those working in pastoral care. People who may not have an academic background [in communications], but who want to learn basic skills to help the Church in her mission to communicate with others. <\/em><\/p>\n

\nCommunication is central to the Church. One could say that the Church is communication, because it conveys the eternal content which is the Gospel. So we can't separate communications from the Church's mission to evangelize. It is an inherent part of the reality of the Church.<\/em><\/p>\n
