{"id":44959,"date":"2021-08-18T11:40:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T09:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www1.romereports.com\/2021\/08\/18\/pope-francis-at-general-audience-law-of-moses-reminds-us-of-our-need-for-christ\/"},"modified":"2021-08-18T11:40:00","modified_gmt":"2021-08-18T09:40:00","slug":"pope-francis-at-general-audience-law-of-moses-reminds-us-of-our-need-for-christ","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.romereports.com\/en\/2021\/08\/18\/pope-francis-at-general-audience-law-of-moses-reminds-us-of-our-need-for-christ\/","title":{"rendered":"Pope Francis at General Audience: Law of Moses reminds us of our need for Christ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During his General Audience, Pope Francis explained the relationship between faith in Jesus and the demands of the Mosaic Law.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on St. Paul's letter to the Galatians, the Pope stated that the Mosaic Law served a \u201cpedagogical function,\u201dreminding us of our need for salvation which is realized through the coming of Christ.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SUMMARY OF THE POPE'S CATECHESIS IN ENGLISH:<\/p>\n<p><em>Dear Brothers and Sisters: <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In our continuing catechesis on the Letter to the Galatians, we have seen how Saint Paul teaches that faith in Jesus Christ brings a spiritual freedom that liberates believers from the demands of the Mosaic Law.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For the Apostle, the Law served a \u201cpedagogical\u201d function; as a merciful gift of God, it demanded obedience to his commandments, while at the same time pointing to the reality of our sinfulness and need for salvation. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>With the coming of Christ and his redeeming grace, the Law finds its fulfillment in the Gospel message of new life and freedom in the Spirit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I cordially greet the English-speaking faithful.
