That's what the Vatican's latest press release says on the Pope's condition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday evening, the Holy See press office announced the Pope was admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital for a planned intestinal surgery. Ten doctors participated in the procedure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just before midnight on Sunday, it was reported that the Pope was put under general anesthesia, and that he \u201creacted well\u201d to the operation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Monday morning, the Vatican announced the operation lasted about three hours and entailed removing part of the Pope's colon.  It said he was alert, in a stable condition, and breathing on his own.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Pope will remain hospitalized for seven days in order to convalesce, meaning he could pray the Angelus from Rome's Gemelli hospital next Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>JM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 5, 2021.
