The President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, has visited the Pope at the Vatican. It is the second meeting between the two.<\/p>\n
'I am glad that we are meeting for a second time'.<\/em><\/p>\n President Van der Bellen surprised the Pope by giving him 20 goats as a gift, though he only brought photos of them to the Vatican.<\/p>\n The goats will be given to families in Burundi through the charity Caritas. <\/p>\n 'This is a message, a message'. <\/em><\/p>\n In return the Pope gave him a mosaic of Noah caring for nature. <\/p>\n 'Creation opens paths to salvation'. <\/em><\/p>\n It was a fitting gift since President Van der Bellen is the spokesman of Austria's Green Party, and two discussed topics related to climate change and the pandemic.<\/p>\n He was accompanied during his visit by his wife, Doris Schmidauer.\n<\/p>\n JMB TR: JM June 7, 2021.
