\u00c1vila, Spain is celebrating 50 years since its patron saint was named a Doctor of the Church. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s doing so with this in-person and on line conference.<\/p>\n
To conclude it, Pope Francis has sent this nearly 13-minute long video message. <\/p>\n
He urged the faithful to imitate the example of St. Teresa, who lived in a rapidly changing world much like today.<\/p>\n
POPE FRANCIS \u201cInstead, prayer opens us up. It allows us to see God\u2019s greatness, that He is on the other side of the horizon, that God is good, that He loves us, and that history has not slipped through his fingers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Pope Francis recalled that the \u201caudacity, creativity, and St. Teresa\u2019s excellence as a reformer\u201d were the fruit of her friendship with the Lord. <\/p>\n Last December, the bishop of \u00c1vila, along with a delegation from the city, traveled to Rome.
