He was accused of not reporting abuses perpetrated by Fr. Bernard Preynat in the 80s and 90s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cardinal Barbarin was issued a six-month suspended sentence in March 2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In January 2020 he was acquitted, and many abuse victims appealed the ruling to the French supreme court, which upheld the ruling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After his original conviction, Cardinal Barbarin offered his resignation from the Archdiocese of Lyon to Pope Francis.
