The pope asked the cardinal to resign last Sept. 24, <strong>stripping him of his rights as cardinal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Sources close to the pope interpret it as a <strong>paternal gestur<\/strong>e toward the cardinal, typical of Holy Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>This is the <strong>first time a pope celebrates the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper privately<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Vatican has not distributed any images of the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 1, 2021.
