It's an occasion to devote special attention to the sick and their caretakers.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about \u201cthose who have suffered, and continue to suffer, the effects of the worldwide pandemic,\u201d the pope sent a message expressing his closeness to the poor and marginalized.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STANDING AGAINST HYPOCRISY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He makes an invitation \u201cto stop and listen, to establish a direct and personal relationship with others, to feel empathy and compassion, and to let their suffering become our own as we seek to serve them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>POPE FRANCIS<\/strong><br \/>\n  January 4, 2021<br \/>\n <em>\u201cWe do not know what 2021 holds for us, but what each one of us, and all of us together, can do is to take care of each other and of creation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>VULNERABILITY AND NEED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pope highlights that \u201csickness makes us realize our own vulnerability and our innate need of others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSickness raises the question of life's meaning, which we bring before God in faith.
