His funeral Mass took place on Tuesday evening at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral Church.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He had tested positive for the virus on June 13 and was admitted to Square Hospital's ICU in Dhaka. On June 22, after a noted recovery, his results came back negative for COVID-19. On July 8 though, he was sent to the ICU again. He had a brain hemorrhage, which caused multiple strokes and his eventual death.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Costa is the highest-ranking Bangladeshi member of clergy to die during the pandemic.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He participated in his ad limina meeting with Pope Francis in May 2018, accompanied by his brother bishops. He had served as the secretary-general of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Bangladesh and was responsible for their Commission on Youth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Melissa Butz<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 14, 2020.
