He also gave him books on coffee shops in Buenos Aires, and a statue of the slave, \u201cNegro Manuel,\u201d who found the sculpture of Our Lady of Lujan.<\/p>\n<p>The pope in turn, gave them a sculpture with the inscription, \u201cBe messengers of peace.\u201d He also gave them the main official documents of his pontificate.<\/p>\n<p>He dedicated and signed one of them.<\/p>\n<p>Then Pope Francis read a prayer written by St. Thomas More, to not lose one's good humor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI'll bookmark the page for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was their first encounter, and it was very symbolic, as Pope Francis is one of the first global leaders to meet with the new president of Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>With Cristina Kirchner, relations were cordially tense.<\/p>\n<p>With Mauricio Macri, they showed no signs of warmth.<\/p>\n<p>Time will tell what the relationship will be with Alberto Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n<p>JMB\/CT<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 31, 2020.
