{"id":47772,"date":"2019-07-28T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-07-28T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www1.romereports.com\/2019\/07\/28\/luca-signorellis-exhibition-arrives-to-rome-oblivion-and-rediscovery\/"},"modified":"2019-07-28T15:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-07-28T13:00:00","slug":"luca-signorellis-exhibition-arrives-to-rome-oblivion-and-rediscovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.romereports.com\/en\/2019\/07\/28\/luca-signorellis-exhibition-arrives-to-rome-oblivion-and-rediscovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Luca Signorelli's exhibition arrives to Rome: \u201cOblivion and rediscovery\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The famous Renaissance painter Luca Signorelli is renowned for his extraordinary frescoes of the New Chapel in Orvieto and his works in the Sistine Chapel.<\/p>\n<p>As a way of honoring him, Rome is holding an exhibition on some of his masterpieces entitled: \u201cOblivion and rediscovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLAUDIO PARISI PRESICCE<\/strong><br \/>\nOrganizer of the exhibition<br \/>\n<em>\u201cThe exhibition focuses on Signorelli's relationship with the city of Rome. This is because within the years he came to Rome, in 1482 during the pontificate of Sixtus IV, the city was renewed. It became a model for both classical and Christian Rome.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Until November 3, 15 of Signorelli's artworks will be on display for the first time in Rome at the Capitoline Museums.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is structured into seven sections. It first begins by identifying the common errors in recognizing the author's face and then to his time in Rome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLAUDIO PARISI PRESICCE<\/strong><br \/>\nOrganizer of the exhibition<br \/>\n<em>\u201cWe have underlined the context in which his works have matured and refers to classical figures. For example, the figure of the Spinario, was part of a donation made by Sixtus IV to the Roman people, along with other works in bronze such as St. John Lateran.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although the artist's main work cannot be  removed from the New Chapel in Orvieto, the museum have provided backlit reproductions of the frescoes.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, during the preparation of the exhibition some of Signorelli's works were restored to their original splendor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLAUDIO PARISI PRESICCE<\/strong><br \/>\nOrganizer of the exhibition<br \/>\n<em>\u201cWe were able to take the opportunity to restore some of his works. They are in some collections, in different churches, and they were not in perfect condition.
