In his weekly General Audience, Pope Francis concluded his catechesis on the \u201cOur Father\u201d prayer. <\/p>\n
Pope Francis said Christian prayer begins by calling God \u201cFather.\u201d He added the first principle of every prayer is the Holy Spirit who \u201cbreathes into the hearts of the disciples.\u201d<\/p>\n
The pope stressed that through grace one is drawn into \u201cthe Holy Trinity\u2019s dialogue of love.\u201d He noted when Jesus cries out on the cross \u201cMy God, my God,\u201d one sees \u201cthe fulcrum of His relationship with the Father.\u201d <\/p>\n
At the end of his catechesis he invited everyone to repeat another prayer of Jesus: \u201cI bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children.\u201d<\/p>\n
SUMMARY OF POPE'S CATECHESIS<\/ins><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cDear Brothers and Sisters, <\/em><\/p>\n Today we conclude our catechesis on the \u201cOur Father\u201d. Jesus has revealed to us that Christian prayer begins with the audacity to call God \u201cFather\u201d. <\/em><\/p>\n Indeed, each of the expressions that our Lord Himself uses in prayer brings to mind the text of the \u201cOur Father.\u201d Throughout the New Testament, moreover, it is clear that the first principle of every prayer is the Holy Spirit, who breathes into the hearts of the disciples.<\/em><\/p>\n Herein lies the mystery of Christian prayer:<\/em><\/p>\n that by grace we are drawn into the Holy Trinity\u2019s dialogue of love. On the cross Jesus cries out:<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMy God, my God,\u201d and we see here the fulcrum of his relationship with the Father. <\/em><\/p>\n This also reflects the heart of our own trust and prayer. At the end of this catechesis, let us repeat this prayer of Jesus: \u201cI bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n I greet the English-speaking pilgrims and visitors taking part in today\u2019s Audience, especially<\/em><\/p>\n those from England, Belgium, Tanzania, New Zealand, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Canada and the United States of America.
