Pope Francis met with representatives from the Italian Federation of Associations for the Deaf.<\/p>\n
They work toward overcoming the isolation and marginalization of those with hearing and speech impediments. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Pope Francis called upon all institutions to overcome prejudice toward deaf people and encourage their active participation in society. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He reminded deaf people that they are a gift in the Church and have an important role to bringing the faith to many people. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
