In his daily homily at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis warned of rivalry and vain glory. He said this selfish way of behaving is destructive.<\/p>\n
POPE FRANCIS<\/strong> The pope said peace must be sought in one's own family, parish, and institutions, \u201calways seeking unanimity and harmony and not one's own interest.\u201d <\/p>\n EXTRACT FROM PAPAL HOMILY<\/strong> \u201cRivalry is bad. You can do it openly, in a direct way, or hidden with white gloves. It always aims to destroy the other and to \u2018raise oneself up\u2019 by diminishing the other. Since I cannot be so virtuous, so good, I diminish the other, so I always remain superior. Rivalry is one way of acting out of self-interest.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBuilding peace with small gestures paves a path of harmony throughout the world.\u201d<\/p>\n The same war is waged at home and in our institutions, stemming from rivalry: that\u2019s where war begins!
