Cristi\u00e1n Enrique Contreras Molina (71) former bishop of San Felipe. The second is Msgr. Carlos Eduardo Pellegr\u00edn Barrera (60) who was the bishop of diocese of San Bartolom\u00e9 de Chill\u00e1n since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chilean media, they are being investigated by prosecutors in Chile for allegedly covering up abuse cases and one for possibly committing abuse in the past.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It's a result of deepening investigations of bishops, priests and lay people in the country.<\/p>\n<p>These two new resignations bring the total number that Pope Francis has accepted to seven.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 21, 2018.
