She realized<strong> her dream: to be a journalist<\/strong>. She had worked in different media and was living in Italy to report <strong>news on the Vatican at Rome Reports news agency<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Patricia de La Vega says <strong>she loved what she did<\/strong>. However, something changed in her life when <strong>she discovered her vocation was to serve society's poorest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SR. PATRICIA DE LA VEGA<br \/>\nDaughter of Charity<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>\u201cThat was something I had dreamed about since I was a child, but there came a time when I realized that it wasn't fulfilling \u2013 that something was missing. It was through contact with the people who need it most that I discovered that walk together made me happy; that's what fulfilled me. I thought, 'This is what I want forever.'\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That's how she found out about the <strong>Daughters of Charity, a congregation founded by St. Vincent  de Paul<\/strong>, and began to rethink her path. She says it wasn't easy, that she was scared, but she took a deep breath and made the leap. Now she assures<strong> she doesn't regret her decision<\/strong> because she believes <strong>it brings her true happiness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SR. PATRICIA DE LA VEGA<br \/>\nDaughter of Charity<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>\u201cIt's completely worth it because it makes you live a life full of intensity, because it helped me meet people I wouldn't have otherwise and because it opened my heart, my life and my person. I believe I have grown together with these people in my vocation, that I'm better. If I wouldn't have followed this life, I don't think that would have happened. I wouldn't have been as happy as I am now.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She returned to Rome after nine years; this time not as a journalist, but as a sister. She celebrated the 400th anniversary of her charism, a Vincentian charism that inspires her <strong>to give every day of her life to the service of others<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 8, 2017.
