FEDERICO LOMBARDI<br \/>\nPresident, Ratzinger Foundation<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>\u201cWe are preparing a congress for the end of the year, at the Catholic University of Costa Rica. It will be about Pope Francis' Laudato si' and its continuity with the effort and care for the common home by Benedict XVI. This will involve much of Central America and Latin America, especially Catholic universities.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cardinal <strong>Cl\u00e1udio Hummes<\/strong>, who has closely followed the Amazon\u2019s decline, and Cardinal <strong>Giuseppe Versaldi<\/strong>, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, will participate, among others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Theologians and scientists will debate and evaluate the measures that society should adopt to deal with <strong>climate change.<\/strong> A kind of ecological barometer will be created, so each country can check whether it meets Laudato si's parameters to care for the environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FR. FEDERICO LOMBARDI<br \/>\nPresident, Ratzinger Foundation<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThe Catholic University of Costa Rica has an important project with which it will measure the physical and social indexes in regard to environmental changes in order to be able to measure how much effort people are putting into taking care of the \u2018common home.\u2019\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>With this meeting, they hope to make people aware about <strong>caring for the planet<\/strong> in a way that is as much scientifical as theological and spiritual.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FR. FEDERICO LOMBARDI<br \/>\nPresident, Ratzinger Foundation<br \/>\n<\/strong><em> \u201cIt will be a study that will measure not only the development of climate change, but also the way we live with it and fight against it.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Under the slogan \u201cCare for the Common House: a necessary conversion for Human Ecology,\u201d the Holy See hopes to do something about climate change by uniting people in a common effort in order to create <strong>a more sustainable world<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 20, 2017.
