Since the late 70's he served as a consultor for the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, where he worked closely with Benedict XVI. ;<\/p>\n<p>He also taught at Rome's Gregorian University. He was made a Cardinal later in life, back in April 2012, under the pontificate of Benedict XVI. ;<\/p>\n<p>In light of his death, Pope Francis sent a telegram to offer his condolences. ;<\/p>\n<p>With this death, the Council of Cardinals now stands at 207, out of which 110 are eligible to vote in an eventual conclave. ;<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend though, the Pope will create new cardinals during a Consistory in the Vatican. ;<\/p>\n<p>KLH ;<br \/>\nRR<br \/>\nJM<br \/>\n-PR<br \/>\nUp:JRB<br \/>\n#Vatican<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 10, 2015.
