Its biggest stars often rap about gangs, drugs, and money. But one young hip hop artist is trying to change the genre.<\/p>\n<p>Cory Matthews Larmour, who goes by Cory Matthews, is a rapper from New York state. He hopes his style will change hip hop\u00e2??and spread the Gospel.<\/p>\n<p>After seeing his father DJ and his cousin rap, Cory tried writing rhymes himself. He has been doing it for years. The rapper's lyrics are aspirational and often reference God.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Larmour\u00a0became religious after a friend was stabbed and killed. A Catholic, he now attends Mass and frequently performs for youth gatherings.<\/p>\n<p>His debut album was called 'Unafraid.\u00e2?\u009d His next album, 'Boy Meets World,\u00e2?\u009d will be released this summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Like many popular artists, he uses social media to help grow his fan-base and spread his ideas. Tens of thousands of fans follow him on Instagram and Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Matthews does not identify as a Christian rapper.
