Since 1990, Franciscan friars and volunteers have visited Fuerte Apache, a poor neighborhood in Buenos Aires. They work with children and adults there. For example, they give micro-loans to families so that they can build houses or start small businesses. They also spend time with old people and keep them active.<\/p>\n

The group has focused more on the neighborhood since 2014. They want to be a sign of hope for all families in the area.<\/p>\n

Just a few miles from Buenos Aires, the friars are helping people in a neighborhood filled with people at risk of social exclusion. And in a way they're continuing the work of a very important man. When Pope Francis was the archbishop of Buenos Aires, he focused on the same areas.<\/p>\n
