People were playing cards and reading at the Vatican's newly opened homeless shelter. Then an unexpected guest arrived.<\/p>\n

Pope Francis visited the shelter just days after the Vatican opened the building. It started with a tour, as the Pope learned details about the place.<\/p>\n
'Your Holiness, before, they were under the colonnade, sleeping under thousands of stars. Now they have a two star shelter.\u00e2?\u009d<\/p>\n
Monsignor Krajewski told the Pope that there are 34 beds and every person can stay in the shelter for a month maximum.<\/p>\n
'It is a month to breathe, to think a little, to be well.\u00e2?\u009d<\/p>\n
The Pope kindly greeted those who were staying in the shelter.<\/p>\n
'Thank you for accepting this home, our home that you have thanks to the generosity of the Jesuit priests who have donated it.\u00e2?\u009d<\/p>\n
The Jesuits' Superior General, Father Adolfo Nicolas, joined Pope Francis during his tour of the center. They showed him the beds and their lockers.<\/p>\n
