She explained in a conference, hosted in Rome by<span style='font-weight: bold;'> ProVita Onlus, <\/span>that these actions were a normal part of her daily routine.<\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-weight: bold;'>KRISTINA HODGETTS<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-weight: bold;'>Vice-president, Canadian Euthanasia Prevention Coalition \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-style: italic;'>'When I became the director of nursing in a long-term care home, the doctor would provide us with orders, palliative care orders. For example, .5-2 milligrams of morphine per hour or suspend food and water. So even if they're not yet dying, they would be by dehydration.\u00e2?\u009d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'>\n<p class='paragraph'>One day Hodgetts realized that her 'care\u00e2?\u009d to her patients was not respectful and loving care, but an assisted death or euthanasia being carried out by nurses or doctors around her, including herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-weight: bold;'><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-weight: bold;'>KRISTINA HODGETTS<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-weight: bold;'>Vice-president, Canadian Euthanasia Prevention Coalition \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'><span style='font-style: italic;'>'It happened on Ash Wednesday four years ago. It was the most soul-wrenching thing I have ever discovered in my life. it was 'Oh my gosh, I'm killing people.'\u00e2?\u009d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'>\n<p class='paragraph'>However, the following day at work, when <span style='font-weight: bold;'>she refused to comply with the 'do not resuscitate\u00e2?\u009d request and death by dehydration, she was fired. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class='paragraph'>\n<p class='paragraph'>Now,<span style='font-weight: bold;'> she works as the Vice-president of the Canadian Euthanasia Prevention Coalitio<\/span>n, fighting for every life, just as she recently fought for her own.
