The Vatican pediatric hospital will take in an 8-month-old British baby girl with an incurable condition. It is a rare disease that prevents her from developing all of her muscles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was confirmed by the hospital, owned by the Holy See, which stated the following: \u201cYes, we confirm that the Bambino Ges\u00f9 has offered to receive and treat little Indi Gregory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the statement, the hospital specified that they were asked for their willingness to receive her and the request was granted. No other updates are expected at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indi Gregory was granted Italian citizenship following an emergency Council of Ministers, which took place on November 7, so that she could receive treatment in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reason for the expedited process is because the British court ruled that the hospital where Indi was staying must withdraw her life-saving treatments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case of this little girl is not the first that the Bambino Ges\u00fa has offered to treat. In 2018, a similar case occurred with another British baby, Alfie Evans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pope Francis was moved by this case. In fact, he posted a tweet where he appealed for the wish \u201cto try new possibilities of treatment\u201d to be fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pope even welcomed the parents of Alfie Evans at the Vatican just ten days before their little boy passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
