We must go after it boldly.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pope also pointed out that attention to the poor was very present in the Christian communities of the first centuries. He recalled the words of the theologian St. Ambrose of Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POPE FRANCIS<br><\/strong><em>Poverty is a scandal. Poverty is a scandal. When the Lord returns, he will ask us to account for it and\u2014as St. Ambrose writes\u2014he will say, \"Why did you tolerate so many poor people dying of hunger, when you possessed the gold to collect food to feed them?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebration included people in need who were gathered by various congregations or social projects around Rome.
