The last standing sexual assault case against defrocked Cardinal Theodore McCarrick has been suspended, meaning he is no longer facing active criminal charges in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The state of Wisconsin suspended the charges against McCarrick, citing his \u201cincompetence\u201d to stand trial because of dementia. But the case may be reviewed later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ruling in the Wisconsin court comes just a few months after the state of Massachusetts did the same. However, there is a possibility it could be taken up in both New Jersey and New York civil courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
