On a visit to Rome, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, met privately with Pope Francis to discuss the situation of the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following their meeting, the Cardinal addressed members of a university in Rome, pointing out that peace and dialogue must be built through an international collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CARD. PIERBATTISTA PIZZABALLA<\/strong> Speaking with journalists after his speech, the Cardinal stressed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He described it as \u201ca situation of extreme poverty.\u201d In northern Gaza specifically, the Latin Patriarchate said: \u201cThere are no houses. There is no water. There is no electricity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cardinal Pizzaballa pointed out that Gaza is receiving aid from the Jordanian monarchy.
