{"id":64635,"date":"2024-01-23T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-23T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.romereports.com\/?p=64635"},"modified":"2024-01-22T16:14:09","modified_gmt":"2024-01-22T15:14:09","slug":"traditions-continue-for-a-feast-of-st-paul-65-years-after-announcement-of-vatican-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.romereports.com\/en\/2024\/01\/23\/traditions-continue-for-a-feast-of-st-paul-65-years-after-announcement-of-vatican-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Traditions continue for a feast of St. Paul 65 years after announcement of Vatican II"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On January 25th, 65 years ago, Pope St. John XXIII announced his intention to convene an ecumenical council that would later become known as Vatican II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He revealed this plan to a group of cardinals in Rome's Basilica of St. Paul\u2019s Outside the Walls, where he was celebrating the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost seven decades later, this feast day is still commemorated in a similar way, with a celebration by the Pope at the very same Papal Basilica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually on this day, the Pope uses his address to call for an openness to both conversion and ecumenism, as this feast is often celebrated alongside Christian denominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POPE FRANCIS<br><\/strong><em>Without God, without his grace, we do not heal from our sins. His grace is the source of our change.<br>Conversion\u2014this oft-repeated word is not always easy to understand. Conversion is asked of people. Conversion has a communal, ecclesial dynamic.
