He is also a founding member of the Pope's inner circle of advisors called the Council of Cardinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of June, Cardinal O'Malley turned 80 years old, making him unable to vote in a future conclave. O'Malley's resignation marks the end of his over 20-year tenure as Archbishop of Boston. And the Pope has announced his replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Archdiocese of Boston will now be led by Richard Henning, formerly the Bishop of the Diocese of Providence.
