At the Vatican, Pope Francis had a meeting with the President of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before becoming President in 2020, Chakwera was an instructor at a School of Theology and also served as the head of the Malawian Assemblies of God. He is up for re-election in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a gift to the Pope, the President brought a hand-made, wooden representation of his country. The Pope in turn gifted him a figure of Mother Mary, his message for peace and books that he has written. The President and his wife have four children and twelve grandchildren.
